Flying or some times just aiming RC aircraft has been a hobby for some years, like camping it has allowed me to meet others and make new friends. I am a member of a small club Tornados MFC. It is not just flying these models that has been the attraction but the many hours involved in the building and then the satisfaction in taking something that started off as a box of wood putting it all together and watching it fly (OK so not always after all there is always the one that got away)..jpg)
This model belongs to Bob Fletcher and was fun to watch
(also in the shot is Geoff and John both members of the Tornados model flying club)
Not one of my models but built and flown by a member of the club (but don't worry Bob I won't tell)
My interest in Radio controlled models started many years ago thorough my dad and my uncle George (both have now unfortunately passed on)
The first ever RC unit was at the best a little touchy. I am sure that there are many of you out there that remember the old bang bang system. No going left then left again these used the sequential system so you went left, centre, right, centre so on and so on. This meant that if you went left then wanted to go left again you had to press the button to got left, centre, right, centre, left.
RC has come a long way since then you now have control of more than one channel and not only that they are now proportional. If it was not for this the models like the one bellow would be almost if not impossible to fly.
This model is made totally from foam and is powered by electric something that a few years ago
would have been out of the question ( model built and flown by another club member Dave Bowers)
As I have not flown for a couple of years my RC sets are a tad out of date but even these sets are computer sets.
As you can see it is not all flying some times its nice to just sit back and chill. Jack is also a keen Caravaner and has been for a few years now.
I will update this page as soon as I have time.
